Wizards get screwed again!

New Washington Wizards coach Flip Saunders was no good luck charm at all as the Wizards got the worst result possible, falling to the 5th overall pick. The Sacramento Kings got similar bad luck [what did they expect from sending Chris Webber to represent them at the lottery?] and wound up with the 4th choice.
01. Los Angeles Clippers
02. Memphis Grizzlies
03. Oklahoma City Thunder
04. Sacramento Kings
05. Washington Wizards
06. Minnesota Timberwolves
07. Golden State Warriors
08. New York Knicks
09. Toronto Raptors
10. Milwaukee Bucks
11. New Jersey Nets
12. Charlotte Bobcats
13. Indiana Pacers
14. Phoenix Suns
The Clippers won the lottery for the third time. They took Danning Manning in 1988 and Michael Olowokandi in 1998. Manning was a pretty good player in an extraordinarily weak draft and his career was destroyed by injuries. The Kandi Man was just a pure bust. The Clippers will select Oklahoma forward Blake Griffin, probably ensuring that his career will be a tragic disappointment.
Well, GM Ernie Grunfeld will immediately start looking to move the pick, though I don’t think trading the pick will be easy. Trading the 5th pick several years ago netted the Wiz Antawn Jamison. If we can do that well again, we should have a parade for Grunfeld.
