Hinkley cut, Villone promoted

Ok, in the ever changing evolution of the Nationals ineffective bullpen, the Nationals cut P Mike Hinckley and call up 39 year old reliever Ron Villone.  I don’t have a problem with this move, and in fact, Villone deserves the opportunity.  Villone posted a 2.35 ERA in 8 appearances.  Good move.  BUT, it isn’t enough.

How about this?  How about also exiting Julian Tavares, Garrett Mock, and Joel Hanrahan while they are at.  Call up Tyler Clippard (2-0, 1.10 ERA in 16.1 innings), Preston Larrison (1.64 ERA in 11.2 innings), and Jason Bergmann.  Keep it going.  The Nationals have the worst bullpen in the Majors.  Keep- changing it until it is fixed, if possible.  Give pitchers below opportunities if those in DC don’t want to do the job.

Of coruse, this is all a huge problem created by the Nationals for failure to put together a competent bullpen during the off-season.  Blame it on Jim Bowden?  Sure.  But throw Manny Acta and Mike Rizzo in there as well because the sat idly by wand watched.
