The Redskins introduce their new pass-rusher, the Capitals ready for game 7 redemption and we inaugurate THE ZIM WATCH: Nats 3b Ryan Zimmerman has a 16-game hitting streak. But first, the top story.
TOP STORY

The top story is the Washington Capitals trying to do what they could not do last year — come back from a 3-1 deficit to win a 7-game series. They failed last year against the Philadelphia Flyers, but they intend to change all that in 2009 against the New York Rangers, a team they have badly outplayed during this series. Read below for more on that.
REDSKINS
1. First round pick Brian Orakpo is open to playing outside linebacker. I don’t think that will happen, but read it anyway.
2. Watch ESPN’s Todd McShay break down the draft for every NFC East team.

3. Here is a list of all 13 free agents the Redskins have signed.

Delaware tight end Robert Agnone, Maryland offensive lineman Scott Burley, Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel, Miami defensive tackleAntonio Dixon, Michigan cornerback Doug Dutch, Washington State tight end Devin Frischknecht, Concordia wide receiver John Halman, UCLA defensive tackle Brigham Harwell, Oklahoma safety Lendy Holmes, Arizona linebacker Ronnie Palmer, Illinois defensive endDerek Walker, Maryland offensive lineman Edwin Williams, Oregon wide receiver Jaison Williams

4. Orakpo said all the right things at his introductory press conference. Read it.
CAPITALS

1. Do you want to know everything about the Caps in game 7? If so, read Red Alert now.

2. The Hockey News argues the NY Rangers have no business being in this series with the Caps.

Should the New York Rangers somehow collect themselves to come back and win Game 7 against the Washington Capitals Tuesday night, they will go down in history as arguably the least deserving team to ever win a playoff series.

As it stands now, the Capitals are outscoring the Rangers 17-10 through the first six games of the series and outshooting them 192-141, which means they’ve been outshooting the Rangers by an average of 8.25 shots per game. With 44 shots in the series so far, Alex Ovechkin has just one fewer shot than the Rangers’ top three shooters – Ryan Callahan, Nik Antropov and Scott Gomez – have combined.

So let’s say the Rangers somehow manage to win by a goal. That would leave the difference in goals between the two teams at six, which would have to be one of the largest, if not the largest, in NHL history for a team that won a best-of-seven series.

Read it.
3. Mike Wise writes that game 7 of this series is redemption time for the Caps. Read it.
4. Donald Brashear is suspended for 6 games, but Chris Clark, who has not played since late January, may suit up for game 7. Read it.
5. John Tortorella v. Bearded Caps Fan. Read it.
6. Brooks Laich and Nicklas Backstrom teach you how to speak Swedish. Read/watch it.
7. Varly‘s birthday. Read it.
NATIONALS

1. The Nats scored 11 runs and still managed to lose. Adam Dunn and Ryan Zimmerman had big nights. Unfortunately, so did Ryan Howard. Read it. Also read the box score.
2. Washington’s re-tooled bullpen flops. Read it.
3. All the news you need to know about the Nats minor leagues is in the DC Pro Sports Report Nats Farm Report. Read it now.
