The Washington Capitals won game 7 tonight at the Verizon Center, defeating the visiting NY Rangers 2-1. The victory completes comeback by Washington, who trailed 3-1 before winning 3 straight to take the quarterfinal series. Alexander Semin scored 1 goal and elder statesman Sergei Federov shot a wrister game-winner past Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist.
Truthfully, the Caps were outplayed in the first two periods before completing dominating the Rangers in the 3rd, outshooting their opponent 12-1. This is Washington’s first playoff series win since 1998, when the team advanced all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals.
