The Spring rains continue to wreck havoc on baseball schedules. The Harrisburg Senators (AA) and Hagerstown Suns (A) were postponed last night from rain. Two days ago, all 4 minor league affiliates were washed out.
Syracuse Chiefs (AAA): Syracuse defeated Lehigh Valley last night behind 6 strong innings from Colin Balestar and a stellar bullpen performance. Balestar tossed 6 innings of 1 run ball, recording 6 strikeouts. Tyler Clippard (1-0) pitched 2 innings of 1 hit ball out fo the bullpen to earn the win. Ryan Wagner picked up his first save. Ryan Langerhans was 2 for 3 and SS Seth Bynum homered for the Chiefs, the game winning 2 run shot. It was Bynum’s 3rd homer this season.
Chiefs Record: After a 1-5 start by the Chiefs, the Chiefs win last night improved the Chiefs to 6-5

Potomac Nationals (A): Nationals defeated Winston Salem 3-2 in the double header opener. The Nats got the third straight strong start from Erik Arensen (2-0). Arnesen pitched 6 innings, allowing just 1 run, scattering 6 hits and striking out 8. Atahualpa O Severino pitched a scoreless inning to pick up his 2nd save. Jesus Valdez (.306) was 1 for 3 and hit his 1st homer. Chris Marrero (.319) was 1 for 2.
Winston Salem pummeled the Nationals last night 10-2 in the double header finale. Bill Atwood allowed 5 hits and 4 runs in 4 innings. James Lehman got rocked for 6 runs on 4 hits in just 2/3 of an inning out of the bullpen. The Nats manged only 4 hits, one coming from Michael Burgess, his 3rd homer. Chris Marrero was 1 for 3 and is hitting ..320.
