As the Nationals go, so goes the Nats farm.  Nats won last night, so three of the four minor affiliates followed up with wins.

Syracuse (AAA):  2005 draft pick Justin Maxwell hit a solo homer in the top of the 12th inning to lift Syracuse to a 5-4 win over Lehigh Valley, notching the Chiefs 2nd win (2-6) of the year.  It was Maxwell’s second homer of the season.  Kory Casto continued to light fire on his bat, going 3 for 6 with 2 doubles.  Casto is hitting .435.  C Gustavo Molin was 2 for 5 with 2 doubles as well.  Kip Wells started for the Chiefs and went 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and 6 strikeouts.  John Glover took the win out the Chiefs pen, Garrett Mock recorded his first save with a scoreless 12th inning.

Harrisburg (AA):  The Senators were triumphant in their home opener on City Island in Harrisburg pummeling Reading 7-2.

Ian Desmond was 2 for 4 and drove in 2 runs, while Marvin Lowrance hit his first homer, going 2 for 3.  C Javier Herrera was 1 for 3 and homered.  Justin Jones
provided another strong start on the mound, pitching 5 innings and
allowing 1 unearned run, while scattering just 4 hits.  Jones notched
his first win of the season.

Potomac (A):  The Potomac Nats completed a 2 game double header sweep last night of Salem, evening up their season record at 4-4.  Daniel Espinosa was 3 for 3 scored twice and knocked in 2 runs.  Chris Marrero
continues his positive start, going 2 for 4, doubling twice, and
driving in 3 runs.  Good news for Marrero fans out there.  Is this the
year he begins to look like a first round pick?  Francisco Placencia
continues to hit well, going 2 for 3, doubling and homering for the
Nats.  Plascencia is hitting .292.  On the mound, for a second straight
impressive start, Erik Arensen pitched 5 innings of 1 run ball
striking out 5.  In two starts, Arensen has pitched 0 innings allowing
2 runs and striking out 8.

In Game Two, the Nats won 5-1 behind 6 strong innings from 2008 draft pick Tom Milone and 2 scoreless innings of relief from 2007 draft pick Kyle Gunderson
Milone allowed 1 run, 6 hits and struck out 7.  Gunderson, out of the
bullpen, got the win and is 2-0.   2008 draft pick Jesus Valdez was 2
for 4 with 2 runs and an RBI.  He is hitting .370.  Tim Pahuta was 2
for 4 and drove in 2 runs.

Hagerstown (A):  The Suns fell to  Lakewood in a 11-9 slugfest.  After an impressive opening start, 2007 darft pick Jack McGeary did not fare as well, allowing 5 runs, walking 6 batters, in 3 innings.  Not a good night for the lefty.  Likewise, reliver Carlos Peralta got shelled for 4 runs in 1 inning of work.  Offensively, 2008 darft pick Steve Lombardozzi  was 3 for 6 with 2 runs and an RBI. C Derek Norris, one of the top prospects in the system, was 2 for 6 and is hitting .300.  2008 draft pick Ronnie Labrie continues
to hit well, going  2 for 5 with 2 runs and a double.  Labie is hitting
a healthy .333.  Fellow draft classmate Michael Gurrero was 3 for 4
with 2 RBIs.
