Skins go back to the future

Feed one beast, starve another. That’s the lesson Redskins management is learning right now. Having committed $32 million in the next 13 months to DT Albert Haynesworth, the Redskins find themselves short of cap space. With about $7 million in space left and the team still facing glaring holes at defensive end and right tackle [not to mention the money that must be set aside for draft picks], the Redskins are shopping for bargains. Nothing says “BARGAIN” like a product still sitting on the shelf after its sell-by date. Which brings us to…

The Redskins are considering re-uniting DE Renaldo Wynn and DE Phillip Daniels, the ineffective starting DEs from 2004-2005 — now years older! Wynn is 34 and Daniels is 36 and neither one of them ever mustered much of a pass rush when they were younger. I’m not sure how much the Redskins think Albert Haynesworth will make his fellow linemen, but it looks like they think he’ll make them A LOT better.
The Redskins have reportedly already made a contract offer to Daniels. I wonder how all those Redskins fans who dismissed Demetric Evans as “too old” at 30 will try to spin this one!
