My vote [Spence] goes to Ted Leonsis, who tried to buy a championship earlier in his tenure, failed, learned his lesson, and started over the old fashioned way. He got a bit of luck in being able to draft Alex Ovechkin, but much of the Caps’ current success can be traced to solid managerial moves by the front office and ownership. Selecting Head Coach Bruce Boudreau out of minor league obscurity has been a master stroke.
