Apparently, some within the Dallas Cowboys organization, particularly Stephen Jones, son of owner Jerry Jones, want WR Terrell Owens released, regardless of the negative impact that would have on the salary cap, in the name of team chemistry. Here is my favorite part of the story, an anonymous quote [probably Stephen Jones] discussing the lack of care the Cowboys use in assembling a roster.
“I think we all know that chemistry is the problem with this team more than the schemes or anything else,” a Cowboys source told Werder. “Are we going to continue to allow talent to outweigh everything else in the decisions we make with players and putting the roster together? We’re like the Redskins used to be when they signed every player they wanted. There’s more to it than talent. It has to be more about the team. The big one [Owens] didn’t get discussed yet, but I’m sure it will and real hard.”
Used to be? I wasn’t aware much had changed on that front. It will be interesting to see if the Cowboys really do cut Terrell Owens. I doubt it will take Owens long to find another job. But if Owens is on his way out of Dallas, who will the Cowboys get to replace him? I doubt the Cardinals will allow Anquan Boldin to just walk away. Could Plaxico Burress soon be wearing a star on the side of his helmet? It just seems right to me that a jackass who shoots himself in the leg should play for the Dallas Cowboys.
