Since 2008 ended early and with much general discontent, it’s not too early to look ahead to 2009. To that end, I present you with the teams the Redskins will play in 2009 — though not in what order.
Home: Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, St. Louis Rams, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs
Away: Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Detroit Lions, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers
It’s the usual mix of tough and…well, oughta be easy. The Chiefs are awful and likely to be so next year. Ditto for the Rams and the Broncos. The Saints and the Buccaneers — who knows? The Falcons should be a tough team to play for years, particularly in Atlanta. The same goes for the Panthers in Carolina. The Chargers should be a tough team, but if Norv Turner is still coaching them in 2009, maybe not. The Raiders and Lions will probably be pushovers even the Redskins can handle. Playing the AFC West is nice. Playing the NFC South is not.
The first regular season game will be played Thursday, September 10 and the last regular season game will be played January 3, 2010. Super Bowl XLIV will be played February 7, 2010 in Miami, Florida.
