Ok, the Capitals fooled me. Not one person I listed was actually called up.
The Capitals have recalled F Andrew Gordon and D Bryan Helmer to the roster. Both will be available tonight, and if Gordon plays, it will be his NHL debut.
I like the Gordon move. HC Bruce Boudreau has called up prospects Simeon Varlamov, Oscar Osala, Karl Alzner, Chris Bourque, and Sami Lepisto this season. Gordon was naturally next as the Coach continues to try and get these young prospects exposed to the NHL. Of all the prospects, Gordon perhaps is the most underestimated. He has played well in both seasons he has been in Hershey.
Last season, in 58 games, Gordon recorded 16 goals and 35 assists with a +/- of +22. This season, in 30 games, he has 10 goals and 10 assists with a +/- of +6. Here is a video of Gordon winning the game on Sunday for the Hershey Bears in a shootout.
UPDATE: Tarik from the Post reports that Brent Johnson is sick and Jose Theodore will be between the pipes tonight.
