Washington Capitals number one prospect, Russian youngster Simeon Varlamov, will get the nod tonight against the Montreal Canadians. It will be Varlamov’s NHL debut.
Brent Johnson has started in goal the last two games and has been absolutely stellar. Johnson stopped 32 of 33 shots last night to earn his 9th win of the season (9-4), but has also been nursing a hip injury. In his last three starts, Johnson has allowed just one goal in each game.
Varlamov has been tearing it up in Hershey, his first season in the AHL. The young 20 year old is 10-3 with a GAA of just 2.34/
