Redskins Injury Update

JLC from the Wash Post tells us that Chris Samuels knee is still not right, but is a likely go for the Redskins tomorrow.  Let’s give credit where it is due, Samuels tends to have a nagging injury every year, a knee, an elbow, whatever, but in most cases, week in and week out, Samuels is out there putting in pro bowl worthy performances.  I suspect the same will happen tomorrow.
DE Andre Carter is a game time decision.  Carter limped off last week and did not play the rest of the game.  DT Anthony Montgomery will return after missing two weeks.  Cornelius Griffin and Kedric Golston both were banged up last week, but at this point, are expected to play.  The Redskisn showed some goof depth on the roster last week when Lorenzo Alexander trotted on tot he field and played a damn good game.
RB Clinton Portis is good to go.  At least I think.  HC Jom Zorn says he is 50/50 and they hope he will play, but haven’t they been saying that the last two weeks?  LB London Fletcher is a game time decision.  That’s pretty good considering just a few days ago, he was pretty much an assured miss for the Giants.

“I feel better, just not 100 percent–but who is 100 percent at this stage of the season?” Fletcher said.

Asked about his status, Fletcher said: “It’s still up in the air. I’m hopeful that I can play, but right now I couldn’t say definitively.”

Head coach Jim Zorn said that Fletcher’s availability would depend on how well he can push off his foot.

“If we can get the little irritation isolated and braced, he may be able to go,” Zorn said. “He wants to play, but it will be a pain tolerance issue.”

Come on London, heal over night.  I am one of those guys that believes London Fletcher is absolutely critical to the Redskins defense, perhaps more so than Shawn Spring was last year and two years ago.  He is the defensive signal caller, performs side to side, and is the surest tackler on the defense.  Fletcher’s absence would be a huge disadvantage to the Redskins.
And, finally, as we are sure you have heard, Giants WR Plaxico Buress will miss tommorow’s game.  He was going to miss it anyway, but now, there is no choice.  Buress suffered an accidental gunshot wound at a Club last night.  Wonde if he had a permit for the gun?
