The injury news for the Washington Capitals continues to pile up. This one is a whole lot longer than the others. D Jeff Schultz is expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks with a broken hand. Schultz was moved to the injured reserve.
The Capitals have not yet made the move to replace Schultz, but is is highly speculated to be D Sami Lepisto from Hershey. 2007 first round pick Karl Alzner could be an option, but for reason base don the salary cap, is is unlikely. The Capitals do free up Schultz salary cap number by moving him tot he longer injured reserve list.
Other injuries for the Capitals: Alexander Semin (back), Boyd Gordon (back), John Erskine (undisclosed), Mike Green (shoulder) and Sergei Fedorov (ankle). Green and Semin may return this weekend. Gordon and Erskien are listed day to day.
