RB Shaun Alexander was released by the Redskins today. Alexander became a victim of two things.
First, Ladell Betts is healthy again and able to backup Clinton Portis, therefore, Alexander simply became expendable. Second, the Redskins are in need of defensive line, because of injuries to Cornelius Griffin and Kedric Golston. Alexander had 11 carries for 24 yards and 11 reception for 9 yards in 4 games with the Redskins.
The Redskins welcome back DT Ryan Boschetti, released during training camp. Boschetti has played off and on with the Redskins over the last four seasons.
