Alexander Semin tried to make a pass in overtime in front of the net, instead it was deflected right back to him, and Semin delivered a slap shot over the right shoulder of Marty Turco to deliver the winner in overtime. It was Semin’s 7th goal of the season. Semin also had a three point night, with a goal and two assists.

Tomas Fleischmann and Sergei Fedorov both scored twice, each netting their second and third goals, giving Line two 4 total goals. The final Caps goal in regulation came from rookie D Tyler Sloan, his first NHL career goal.
Kudos to Fedorov for setting the Russian record for goal score.
“It’s just a record,” Fedorov said. “I’d rather talk about Alex than the record. I know his career was shortened by injury. I didn’t expect to ever get it. He had a great shot and amazing hands. Realistically, if he’d played more he’d have a lot more stats. He was a powerful forward, a scoring machine.”
Jose Theodore will pick up win number 3 as he stopped 28 of 33 shots.
