Bullets point guard Gilbert Arenas had surgery on his left knee [the third such surgery in recent years] to clear out some floating debris. Arenas had been slowly rehabbing from his last injury and apparently never intended to take part in preseason or training camp. He envisions a return to games in December, though I suspect that’s a best-case scenario. It means that Arenas will miss at least 14 games this coming season, the number the team plays in October and November. Earlier this Summer, Arenas signed a 6-year $111 million contract to stay in Washington and, hopefully, play basketball games.
Considering that the Bullets have only chump change to spend under the luxury tax, I’d expect them to go into the season with Antonio Daniels and Dee Brown at point guard. Here we go again.
