Oh please, you knew it was coming … Doughty or Horton

Like you didn’t expect this argument to abound already.  Come on, everyone expected it. So let’s get it out of the way first thing Monday Morning.  Make your choice in the DCPSR Redskins Park Forum!

Greg Blache has a difficult decision here.  Reed Doughty won the starting job, played very well in place of the late Sean Taylor last season.  BUT, the Redskins also must have felt an unease with Doughty considering they drafted two safeties in later rounds who were packed with a ton of potential, Chris Horton and Kareem Moore.
So Horton gets the start for an ill Doughty and contributes with 2 tackles, 1 assist, 1 fumble recovery and two picks.   Stats aside, fact is Horton put himself in position to make plays.  That’s the strong point.  The stats speak for themselves, but the fact is, Horton was all over the field, all game, and each of the turnovers, Horton was in position to make those plays.  That’s what play makers do.
The Redskins have got to be feeling pretty good about their situation at Safety right now.  S Laron Landry proved yesterday to be an upcoming star in the league, a guy that QBs avoid throwing too.  He was the unheralded hero yesterday, causing two critical pass deflections that saved the Redskins behinds.  Fact for me is, if your going to throw deep into Landry zone, I fell pretty darn confident!  It’s shades of #21!  Backing up Landry is another exciting young rookie, Kareem Moore.  Moore has been sidelined with a hammy strain, but he has looked good, real good, at times.
At the other  spot you have Doughy and Horton, need I say more.  And, if Horton does keep the starting job, just imagine having a guy like Doughty, with good starting experience, behind Horton when needed.  Doughty would also likely rotate in often.   If Doughty starts, well, I will be mad.  Guess you can tell how I voted.
So come in and cast your ballot, Reed Doughty or Chris Horton?
