Everyone who saw the Redskins-Giants game last Thursday night saw the Giants run repeatedly at DE Jason Taylor, testing his strength and the health of his injured knee. The results, for the Redskins, were poor and discouraging. No one knows this more than Taylor himself.
“Terrible,” he said of his performance against the Giants. “We didn’t win. I didn’t make enough plays to help us win. If we lose a game and you’ve got four or five sacks, you still didn’t play good enough.”
In fact, the Giants averaged almost 5 yards per carry against the Redskins and more than that running at Taylor. Taylor is now officially listed at 244 pounds — tiny for a defensive end by NFL standards. During his long tenure at Miami, Taylor’s weight would dip to that level and even a bit lower, but the Dolphins were often able to compensate for it.
Whether the Giants targeted Taylor because of his injury or the belief he is a weak link in the Redskins’ run defense, “they did what they did,” defensive end Andre Carter said. “That could have been part of the game plan [to run at Taylor], and he knows, in this division, they’re going to test him.
The Redskins will have to come up with some way to keep every team they face from doing what the Giants did. Right now, there is a target on Jason Taylor that every opposing offense the Redskins face will be shooting at.

After seeing the way his leg got bent 6 ways from sunday, I was just glad to see him back playing. He'll contribute and get his sacks. A true professional.
