Wow. The Washington Nationals are on fire. Let’s make it now, 6 consecutive wins, and two straight series sweeps. The Nats are red hot.
The National completed their second straight series sweep, defeating the Atlanta Braves 8-4 today behind a three run , 8th inning home run by Aaron Boone. The Nats pounded the Braves for 11 hits, making it a total of 37 hits and 22 runs in the three game sweep.
Willie Harris was 3 for 5 with a run and an RBI, while Christian Guzman, Ryan Zimmerman, and Boone each had 2 hits. Guzman has 5 consecutive multi-hit games. Guzman is a whopping 14 for 24 over his last 5 games and improved to .308 on the year. Meanwhile Zimmerman has gotten hot offensively as well hitting safely in 5 straight and is 15 for 42 over his last ten games. Zimmy has bumped his average to .281.
Meanwhile, Garrett Mock (1-3) relived starter Colin Balestar to earn his first major league win. Mock tossed 1 inning with 2 strikeouts. Balestar went 7 innings yielding 4 runs on 6 hits with 5 strikeouts.
