How about that? I thought all the brooms were gone, but the Washington Nationals found it in the attic and used it to sweep to complete a three game sweep of the LA Dodgers. Arizona Diamondback fans must be huge Washington Nationals fans right now. The Diamondbacks are marred in a 4 game losing streak, but lost no ground because of the Nats.
The Nats did it with an offensive explosion defeating the Dodgers 11-2. Christian Guzman and Elijah Dukes both homered, and Guzman was 4 for 5 lifting his batting average back up above .300, to .303. Guzman added 3 RBis. Dukes was 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs. Ryan Zimmerman was 3 for 5 with 2 runs and an RBi. He is finally showing a little life.
The Nats offense finally provided some offense to P John Lannan who picked up his 8th win (8-12). Garrett Mock was impressive out of the bullpen, pitching 2 scoreless innings and striking out 4.
The Nationals are still proud owners of the worst record in major league baseball. But, if you have to be the worst, then what better way to go out than causing havoc to teams trying to make division and playoff pushes.
