Wearing #55 and the designation of DE/LB, Jason Taylor practiced as a Redskin for the first time today. [Taylor discussed obtaining the 99 jersey from DE Andre Carter, but eventually decided to drop it. Taylor is going with 55 because he likes repetitive digits on his jersey. Okay -- whatever. Just rack up the sacks and pressures and you can wear whatever you like, as far as I'm concerned, Jason.] Taylor’s work was limited and Demetric Evans continued to start in the 11 on 11 drills. Unfortunately, the practice has been plagued by dark skies and rain all morning. Assuming things clear up later, the Redskins will return at 3 PM for work in pads.
More seriously, TB Clinton Portis turned an ankle during practice. The injury is not considered to be too damaging, but don’t be surprised if he sits out the afternoon practice at the very least.
On a happier note, DC Pro Sports Report extends its warmest congratulations to MLB London Fletcher, who missed practice for a very good reason — the birth of a baby boy. Another Fletcher is also welcome. Just don’t let your baby grow up to be a Cowboy, London.
