Philly's big men dominated Bullets

The Bullets fell to 0-2 in Summer League play, as the Philadelphia 76ers routed Washington 86-72. It was Philly’s big men, 2008 1st round pick Marreese Speights and 2007 1st round pick Jason Smith scored 24 points each and shot a combined 18 of 31 from the field. Speights and Smith also grabbed 24 rebounds between them. Washington actually out shot Philly [45% to 44%], but was dominated on the glass to the tune of 41-29 and 17-3 on the offensive side. The 76ers also dished 18 assists to Washington’s nine.
Nick Young: A disappointing second effort from Nick. He shot poorly [4-12] and doesn’t seem to know how to play any sort of defense. He really needs to work harder to get through screens. He looks like a worse version of Gilbert Arenas out there on defense.
Dominic McGuire: I thought Run DMc looked pretty good out there. We saw the usual high level of energy, though I thought he could have grabbed a few more rebounds. He played more within his game offensively and thus was more efficient. His 12 points on 8 shots looked nice.
Andray Blatche: Obviously, the team’s MVP in this game [as he should be], Blatche scored 18 points, but didn’t block a shot. He still commits too many turnovers, but he’s clearly the best player on this roster.
Dee Brown: He’s playing some real matador defense and notching more turnovers than assists. That’s not good. On the other hand, he isn’t taking any bad shots and he doesn’t cost much. I guess you get what you pay for.
Javale McGee: He didn’t shoot very well [9 points on 10 shots], but he did grab 8 rebounds and block 2 shots in about 21 minutes, so he was very active on the boards and defense. I thought we saw some improvement from game 1. Really, only the two Macs — McGuire and McGee — looked better in game 2 than in game 1.
Speights and Smith looked like the best players on the court — easily.
