Zimmerman to the DL

What do the Washington Professional sports franchises have in common? My guess — Crappy Luck!
The Washington Redskins suffered 6 season ending injuries and 1 death during the 2007 season. Washington Bullets limped through the season with lagging injuries to Gilbert Arenas, Etan Thomas, Caron Butler, and Antonio Daniels. The Washington Capitals struggled early with injuries to Alexander Semin, Chris Clark, Tom Poti, and Boyd Gordon, before ending most of the rest of the season without captain Chris Clark, C Michael Nylander, and starting defenseman Brian Pothier.
So why would the Nationals be any different. The answer — they aren’t. BUT, the problem with the Nats, they simply aren’t playing well with the injuries, where the Caps and Bullets were able to overcome. The Nats had a day off yesterday and will now look to dig down and find the inner strength that was drawn on by the Capitals, Bullets and Redskins during periods of heavy casualties.
The latest blow — the face of the Nats organization, 3B Ryan Zimmerman was placed on the 15 day DL. Zimmerman is suffering from a sore shoulder.

An MRI exam yesterday on Zimmerman’s left shoulder indicated a small labral tear. The Nationals will seek at least three more medical opinions before determining how much time Zimmerman is likely to miss.
“I’ve had players who’ve had the same injury who took 10 days off, then played for five years,” General Manager Jim Bowden said. “Then I’ve had some who’ve been operated on. It can be anywhere in between, and we just don’t know yet.”

Zimmerman leads the Nationals in homers. Second was Nick Johnson. Both are on the DL.
Zimmerman is one additional starter to a growing list of injured Nats. Zimmerman joins Austin Keanrs, Chad Cordero, Paul Lo Duca (don’t get me started on this again), Johnny Estrada (see the comment after Lo Duca), Nick Johnson, and Ronnie Belliard. Elijah Dukes, Wily Mo Pena, and Shawn Hill were injured at the beginning of the season and have worked their way back.
I swear this town is cursed with an injury element!

Well hell, those who are injured weren’t hitting worth a damn when they were healthy.

Your right. Bowden always wants to blame injuries. The problem with his argument. The injuries have nothing to do with the lack of production to his marquee additions of Lastings Milledge, Wily Mo Pena, and Elijah Dukes.
