The Washington Capitals inked their 2007 first round draft pick Karl Alzner to a three year NHL entry deal. Alzner was the fifth overall pick for the Caps and served as captain of Team Canada Juniors.
He played last season in the junior Western Hockey league for the Calgary Hitmen, and subsequently won the WHL Player of the year award. Alzner has 7 goals and 29 assist for Calgary. He had a +26 rating.
