Nats Fall to Marlins

Tim Redding (4-3) has been one of the best starters of the year for the Nationals.  He has been dependable, reliable, and effective.  Not tonight.
Redding pitched 5 innings tonight and got blasted for 6 runs, 5 earned as the nationals fell to the Marlins 7-3.  Little bit of good pitching news, in his first appearance since being sent to the bullpen, Matt Chico pitched 2 scoreless innings , scattering jut 2 hits.
Christian Guzman, Nick  Johnson, and Lastings Milledge each had two hits.  Guzman double din a run and lifted his average to a team lead .310.
How’d the Farm do?
As of the time of this posting, the Columbus Clippers (AAA) are deadlocked in a 3-3 tie in the tenth inning.  The Clips were powered by Yurendell de Caster’s 2nd homer since being promoted and was 3 for 4 tonight with all 3 Clipper RBIs.  Jason Bergmann continues his strong performances, pitching 7 innings, giving up 3 runs and striking out 7.  Bergmann has been one of the hottest Columbus pitchers and could see a call up soon, given the struggles that the Nationals have had with the 5th starter spot.
Harrisburg (AA) defeated Erie 4-3 tonight behind red hot Michael Daniel.  Daniel hit his second homer of the year, was 2 for 5 and drove in 3 runs.  Daniel is now hitting .341.   Justin Maxwell was 2 for 4 with his 6th double.   Jorge Padilla was 2 for 4 and is hitting .340.   Marco Estrada continue to be impressive on the mound pitching 4.2 innings an giving up 1 unearned run.  Estrada scattered 4 hits and struck out 5.  Zechery Zincola tossed 2 scoreless innings and struck out 3 to pick up his first AA win.
Potomac (A) crushed Kingston 5-1 tonight.  SS Seth Bynum had a big night with a double and homer, scoring 2 runs and driving in 3.  Newly called up from Hagerstown, Francisco Plasencia was 2 for 4  with 2 runs scored.  2007 first round pick Ross Detwiler got back on track after a few rough outings, pitching 6 innings, yielding 1 run and striking out 6 to even his record at 2-2.  Yunior Novoa continued his dominance out of the bullpen pitching 3 scoreless innings, earning his 2nd save and lowering his ERA to 1.29.
Hagerstown (Low A) got crushed 9-4 by West Virginia.  Bill Rhinehart was 1 for 4, hit homer number 6 drove in 3 runs and is hitting a whopping .342.  The 2007 11th round pick is 6th in the South Atlantic in hitting, tied for third in homers, and leads the South Atlantic in runs drive in.  He is a hot prospect!
