We called it a few days ago and we concur.
The smart move right now would be to put Chico in the bullpen for long relief and elevate Mike O’Connor to the starting role for now. Give O’Connor the shot. Way I see it, your not going to get worse that what you are getting now.
Mike O’Connor gets the shot in the rotation while Matt Chico moves to the bullpen in long relief. This is a smart move. Chico has really struggled giving up 20 runs in just 17 innings. He needs to get his mojo back and the best way to possible due that is out of the pen. The only other thing that has me concerned though is that Chico really did not finish 2007 well and now has not started out 2008 well.
Well hopefully we can go 2 for 2 here. Hey Manny, it’s time. It really is time to send Joel Hanrahan to Columbus. He is getting shelled out of the pen, his control has been awful, and 5 more walks tonight, we need more consistency out of the bullpen and Hanrahan is part of the problem. Might be a good time to bring up Mike Bascik or Charles Manning from Columbus.
