OF Austin Kearns is breaking out of his slump and thought he added to that in a big way, giving the Nationals a 5-4 lead in the 8th inning. But the once strong bullpen faltered again for the Nationals as Saul Rivera blew a save and gave up a tying run in the bottom of the 8th, giving up a hit and two walks and oft reliable Luis Ayala, blew his first save and fell to 1-2, giving up 3 hi9st and 2 runs off a Carlos Lee double as the Astros defeated the Nats 5-4. Starter Shawn Hill went 5.1 innings giving up 3 runs on 8 hits before yielding to Jesus Colome.
Nick Johnson started the Nats off with his fifth homer of the season in the second inning, a solos shot to put the Nationals up 1-0. The Astros battled back for a run each in the second and third running to take a 2-1 lead. Christian Guzmana nd Ryan Zimmerman would each double in the 4th, each knocking in a run to seesaw the lead back to the Nats, 3-2. It would not even last an inning before Astros would tie it up. It was just that kind of game. Zimmerman and Kearns each ended the night with 2 hits, both trying to come out of early season struggles.
