YES!  The Washington Nationals have managed to put together a two game winning streak, defeating the Chicago Cubs in the first of a three game series, 5-3.  Fresh off a one game suspension for being late, Lastings Milledge went 2 for 2and drove in a run.  BUT, again, it was the backups that caused the Nats to prevail.  Backup C Will Nieves, forced into action with Paul Lo Duca on the DL and backup Johnny Estrada ailing, hit a homer in the ninth inning to propel the Nationals.  Nieves was 1 for 2 with a HR, a run, and 2 RBIs.  Nieves lifted his batting average to .35.  He has 7 hits in 20 trip to the plate.
Recent call up Mike O’Connor, one day removed form earning his first win of the year, walked in a tying run to knot the game at 3-3 in the 8th inning.  Jon Rauch picked up the win, pitching a scoreless 9th inning.  Rauch is 2-0.   Starter Odalis Perez pitched another nice performance going 6 innings, scattering 5 hits on 2 runs and striking out 7.
Now, how did the farm system fare?
AAA Columbus:   Columbus fell to Toledo 8-5.  Newly called up reliever Arnie Munoz blew a save in the ninth inning.  Offensively, Peter Orr continued his hot bat.  Just a week ago, Orr was hitting in the mid .240′s but has since lifted his average to .282.  Orr was 2-4 with a run and 2 RBis.  He also added triple number 5.  Tony Bautista hit his first homer for the Clips.
AA Harrisburg:   Harrisburg bombed Akron 14-7.  Michael Daniel was 2 for 6 with an RBI and super prospect Justinn maxwell was 2 for 3 with a triple, 3 runs scored and a RBI.  But, offensively, the man of the night is the same man it has been all year, C Luke Mont.  Montz was 2 for 5, belting 2 homers and knocking in 6 runs.  Montz is hitting a whopping .404 and now has 5 homers and 23 RBIs.  2B Ian Desmond was 2 for 3 with a homer, 3 runs scored and 3 RBis.  Overall, the Senators blasted Akron for 14 hits.    Bobby Brownlie remained undefeated, he is now 3-0 pitching 5 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits.  Brownlie has an ERA of 2.79 in 5 appearances.
A Potomac:   The Potomac Nationals lost 5-2 tonight as 2007 second rounder and super prospect Jordon Zimmerman got railed for 4 runs on 5.2 innings.  He is now 2-1 with an ERA of 2.21.  OF Marvin Lowrance hit his second homer for the Nats and wa s2 for 3, lifting his average to .273.
A Hagerstown:   Hagerstown pounded Greensboro 9-5 for a win.  Francisco Palencia was 2 for 5 with 2 runs and a triple.  2007 11th rounder Bill Rhinehart remains hot going 2 for 4 with a double, triple, 2 runs and 2 RBIs.  Rhinehart boosted his average to .313.  Is Harrisburg calling Rhinehart?  2007 4th rounder Michael Burgess blasted homer number 6, displaying his power the Nationals knew he had when they drafted him, and went 2 for 5 and also had a double.  Burgess is hitting .250.
