Bullets news round-up

Gilbert Arenas’ surgically-repaired left knee continues to bother him and he may not play in game 4 against Cleveland on Sunday afternoon at the Phone Booth.

Arenas, who is averaging 11 points and three assists in just over 21 minutes in the series, clearly is not the player he was before the first of two surgeries last April.
He lacks much of the speed and lateral quickness that made him so difficult to contain in the open floor, and one of his best weapons — the ability to stop on a dime and elevate for a jump shot from almost anywhere on the floor — isn’t a part of his game.

Deshawn Stevenson was unspeakably awful in last year’s 4-game sweep at the hands of the Cavaliers. In the first two games of the series this year, he wasn’t very good either. In game 3, though, he finally broke through, hitting 5 3-pointers and scoring a career playoff high of 19 points. It’s about time he walked the walk.
Eddie Jordan is proudly un-hip: “To me, “Soldier Boy” is a song from back in the ’60s by the Shirelles.”
The Cavaliers just haven’t played well on the road this season, particularly since the big trade that netted Ben Wallace, Wally Szczerbiak and Delonte West.

The Cavaliers are 17-14, including the playoffs, since the trade, but there is a huge discrepancy between how the team plays at home and on the road. The Cavaliers are 14-4 at Quicken Loans Arena but just 3-10 away from home.
Cleveland’s three road wins came against the New York Knicks, Charlotte Bobcats and Philadelphia 76ers — three teams that finished the season with losing records, with New York and Charlotte both in the NBA lottery. The Cavaliers needed James to erupt for 50 points to beat the Knicks and their win against Philadelphia was marred by a controversial foul call that led to two Devin Brown free throws with 0.2 of a second remaining.

Tom Knott observes that the Bullets are a better team without Gilbert Arenas. At least, better without a one-legged Gilbert Arenas.
