The Washington Capitals fell 4-2 tonight in Florida, a critical Southeast division match up. The win for Florida brings them into a second place tie with Washington with 60 points, 2 points behind leader Carolina.
Washington’s goals came on a power play from Alexander Semin on a neat little rebound to tie the game at 1-1. It was Semins’ 15th goal of the year. Tomas Fleischman scored on an Ovechkinesque type slap shot to earn his 8th netter, first since January 10.
Caps fall in a critical division game, but stay 2 points behind Carolina and travel to Tampa Bay for a division rival game
tomorrow night against the Lightening.
OTHER NEW: Capitals recalled D Sami Lepisto from Hershey. Lepisto was the 66th overall pick for the Capitals in the 2004 draft. He leads the Bears on defensive scoring and +/- with a rating of +27. He has 3 goals and 27 assist for Hershey. This is an exciting move for me. From the several games I have attended at Hershey, since I live in south central PA, Lepisto has been super solid, is aggressive, and will mix things up. Sami’s going to have a place on the Caps in the future, just because of the way he plays the game. He’s excelling in Hershey and Coach Boudreau noticed. What it does signal though is the possibility that Tom Poti may be out for a bit.
