The Washington Capitals fell 3-2 in a shootout tonight against division rival Atlanta Thrashers. Despite out shooting Atlanta 18-3 in the first period, the period ended deadlocked at 0-0.
Victor Kozlov took a rebound to open the game’s scoring and put the caps up 1-0 in the second period. It was his 12th goal of the season.  It was also the first Capitals loss this season when Kozlov scored a goal.
Alexander Ovechkin tied the game up with just 1 minute and 21 second left in the game for his 48th goal of the year.
In the shoot out, Eric Perrin and Slava Kozlov both scored for Atlanta, going 1 and 2 for the win.
Caps remain in first place gaining one standing in over time to tie Carolina with 60 points. Atlanta, with the win, sits 1 point back at 59.

Tomas Fleischmann has been resigned to a two year contract extension. Â Tomas only has 6 goals and 15 assistsin 53 games, but has the confidence of Coach Bruce Boudreau.
Patrick McNeill was recalled to Hershey form South Carolina.
Hershey’s Andrew Gordon was named AHL Player of the Week for week ending FEB 10. He had 4 goals and 3 assists during that span.
